Want More Energy? drink by Isagenix

June 1, 2012

I’m trying a new energy product and I thought it’d be helpful to post about it on here.

Isagenix Want More Energy?

According to Isagenix website Want More Energy? Is a Want More Energy? is a refreshing drink powder containing Vitamins A, C and B complex, electrolytes and nutrients that are lost during stress and exercise.  It is natural fuel for the body, giving you energy without caffeine or stimulants.  Available in 3 flavors – orange, tropical and citrus – pumps you full of vitamins that increase your energy without the sugar crash.  Want More Energy? May also increase and improve mental and physical performance.  http://www.isagenix.com/us/en/wantmoreenergy.dhtml

Kate’s mom purchased a box of 45 Want More Energy? sticks.  They come individually packaged, so it was easy to grab one on my way to work this morning.  Today, I’m going to try the Orange flavor.  Looking at the nutrition label, this little guy is packed with vitamins!  It’s 35 calories, 7g of sugar, 20mg sodium, 160% of daily vitamin c, 3,330% of daily vitamin B12, and 160% of daily vitamin B5 requirements.  Most of the other vitamins are around 25% of daily recommended values.  I often take a B12 supplement in the afternoons when I get in a slump.  The supplement has 8,333% of your daily recommended value, so 3,000% should be fine.  I’ve also researched B vitamins and it’s not a vitamin you can overdose on, so it’s safe to take higher dosages than recommended.

Today, I had a cup of coffee for breakfast around 7am, a bagel with cream cheese (not my healthiest meal) around 9am, several cups of water, and I just finished a healthy lunch of brown rice, chicken, and vegetables.  I’m feeling a little lethargic.  I could absolutely curl up for a nap right now, especially with all of the rain we’ve been getting.  Instead, I’m going to skip my afternoon coffee and vitamin B12 pill and try Want More Energy?.

I am checking out the company website and I’m confused as to how to order these.  I think it’s like Mary Kay, you have to find a person to purchase them from.  It also doesn’t have additional instructions on how to take the product.  I am confused because the label says “Empty packet into a 16.9 oz bottle of water or two cups of water.  Mix well.  Makes about two 8oz servings”.  This energy stick might now be as simple to grab as I thought, because I’m only supposed to use half of it for one serving.  So while at work, what am I going to do with the other half of a powder filled pouch?

Ok, I’ll go along with it.  I took 1 cup of cool water and mixed half the packet.  It results in a whitish color liquid and the smell reminds me of Airborne.  I’m surprised, it tastes pretty good.  It’s sweet, but a little orangey, not too over powering.  It reminds me of children’s fruit juice.  With the cool water I used, it is very refreshing.

I drank the Want More Energy? About an hour and twenty minutes ago, I was just thinking how tired I am when I remembered that I drank it.  I still feel very lethargic and I want to go take a nap.  I’m not sure this product has helped me much, but that might be partially attributable to the fact I take a vitamin B12 on a regular basis in the afternoons.  I’ll wait another 30 minutes and then I’m going to grab coffee so I can finish my afternoon work.  Well, it’s been another 40 minutes and I still feel like I’m dragging.  I’m going to try drinking this again tomorrow when I go on my 7am run and will see how the extra vitamins and electrolytes help with my run.  We’re pushing it to 4 miles tomorrow, which I’ve never done before!

Saturday Morning:
I got up for our 7am run this morning and took the second half of the Want More Energy? package about 30 minutes before my run.  Perhaps this is more beneficial during the run than just taking it during the day at work.  I was not only able to run the entire 4 miles today (I've never done more than 3), but I felt great while doing it.  We made sure to have little sips of water throughout the run, but I was able to talk and catch my breath the entire time.  I am not attributing it to the drink entirely, but I did notice a big difference during my run this morning.
